The Arc of Greater Houston offers a variety of programs throughout the year that assist individuals with special needs, their families and professionals in the community.
Social and Leisure Programs
These programs are for children and adults with intellectual and related developmental disabilitiesand their peers. Programs range from regularly occuring, single day events to weekend respite, vacations and week-long Summer camps and vacations

Families and professionals are provided with disability related information and referrals from our staff by phone, mail and in person.
Advocacy
The Arc of Greater Houston maintains that advocacy begins at home. Our staff, board and familiy members regularly participate in advocacy efforts supporting the rights of individuals with special needs to participate fully in their communities. These efforts span local, state and national arenas. To help assure a strong, independent voice for those persons with intellectual and related developmental disabilities in the community we encourage learning effective self-advocacy skills in our Self-Advocacy Program that meets regularly throughout the year.
Candy Cane Ball
An annual, Winter-holiday event that serves approximately one thousand teens and adults with special needs and their peers in a festive setting for a night of conversation, dancing and dining.
