Dot  Right to Learn Dot Programs

The Right to Learn Program is a service of The Arc that provides assistance to

a) families of students, ages 3-21, who have disabilities and need specialized special education services from the schools
b) professionals in the community serving these students.

This program directly helps ensure that students obtain a free, appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. Our services include:

trainings and direct assistance to parents preparing for A.R.D. (Admission, Review, Dismissal) meetings.

Special Education 101
This is an overview presentation of federal (IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, etc.,) and state level special education law for families and professionals needing to understand the process from the moment of referral through dismissal from the special education system. Attendees receive a packet of resources along with the training materials. The course is offerred one time per month. Special Education 101 brochure link

Educación Especial 101:  En español
ofrece una vista general sobre las leyes federal es y estatales que gobiernan  las escuelas públicas y los  procedimientos en  educación especial.  Todas las reuniones se llevaran acabo en nuestra oficina 3737 Dacoma suite E. 77072. Se requiere que los individuos reserven su participación por lo menos 3 días antes de la fecha. Cada presentación comenzará a las 11:00am y sólo se le permitirá la entrada a aquellas personas con 15 min. de demora. El costo del adiestramiento es de $25.00 dólares* y los participantes reciben: Copia de la presentación en Power Point, The Resource Guide for Persons with Special Needs (actualizado), ¡Esta es una Nueva IDEA! It's a New IDEA!
The Arc of Texas publishes a manual titled "It's a New IDEA", describing the basics of special education law for families and professionals.
