Saturday Fun Day
Saturday Fun Day Program is an out of home, recreational, day respite program for families of individuals ranging in age from 4 to 25, who have a diagnosis of Mental Retardation, Autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder. More information on the Saturday Fun Day Program

Adventure Club
This program is located in the northwest/Tomball area and offers community based activities to individuals, ages 15 and older, with developmental disabilities including autism, mental retardation and PDD. Activities are age appropriate and include bowling, sporting events, theater, shopping excursions, and outings to museums and other places of interest. More information on Adventure Club

Greater Houston Recreation
Located throughout central Houston, this program offers community based activities to individuals aged 15 and older, with developmental disabilities including autism, mental retardation and PDD. Activities are age appropriate and include bowling, sporting events, theater, shopping excursions, theater and outings to museums and other places of interest.

Monthly Dance
A monthly dance for individuals,15 years and older, with developmental disabilities, is held the first Friday of every month at the centrally located Metropolitan Multi-Service Center. Live DJ services, sandwiches, chips and a drink are provided at each dance. More information on Monthly Dances

Adult Weekend Respite
This program is an overnight, out-of-home, weekend respite program for individuals 21 and up who have mental retardation, autism or a pervasive developmental disorder. The program occurs twice per month, on Friday through Sunday. A maximum of 10 consumers attend each respite session along with qualified disability professionals, providing a 2:1 consumer/staff ratio. Three overnight staff are present each night.

Daytime activities for the consumers include sporting and musical events, visits to restaurants, theme parks, shopping excursions, movies and other community wide events. More information on Adult Weekend Respite

Summer Programs

Overnight Summer Vacations
The Arc of Greater Houston offers five-day, four-night vacations for individuals ages 18 and older during the months of June. The 2008 vacations are to Orlando and Dallas .

Day Camp Central
This program includes theme based, age appropriate activities and outings in one-week sessions for individuals, ages 4-14. Camp is held in the month of June in Southwest Houston

Day Camp/Community Outings
This program is held in June for 2 one-week sessions for individuals ages 15+. Day campers will attend activities in Brenham and Galveston as well as key areas surrounding Houston..

Sports and Life Skills Camp
This program consists of one one-week sessions of team sports, swimming, bowling and arts and crafts for individuals, ages 12-25 during the month of July.  Camp ends each week with a pizza party.  Sports and Life Skills Camp is located in the Kingwood area.

Camp Champions
Camp Champions is a five-day residential camp for individuals, ages 10-30, with or without developmental disabilities (an inclusion camp).  Camp Champions serves over 250 campers, staff and volunteers.  The camp is located in Burton, TX at the Camp for All site and activities include horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, paintball, archery, swimming.

Self Advocates
The Arc of Greater Houston’s local chapter of Self-Advocates offers adults with disabilities information specific to their needs. Meetings are held once a month from 6:30 to 8:00pm and provide opportunities to share information, concerns, and feelings, and to support each other in coping with a variety of issues. Participants include those who are 18 and older.

Teens Together
This program is free of charge and serves teens, aged 13 to 21, with disabilities that are specifically related to social skills functioning. Teens such as those who have Asperger Syndrome, autism and or ADHD benefit from opportunities to interact with their age level peers in social and recreational activities.
